Ok, who ever thought that the director of the Titanic would dabble in sci-fi? Well, not me. But apparently there is a new movie coming out called "Avatar" which features humanoids who sort of look like the Draenei off of World of Warcraft. It looks interesting, to say the least.
But, well, form your own opinion and watch the trailer.
If you're speaking of James Cameron (and I'm sure you are), he directed "Aliens", the sequel to the classic "Alien", which is most definitely sci-fi. And not to mention, it's rated one of my "best sci-fi movies of all time."
ReplyDeleteIf you want to see some other awesome sci-fi-ish movies coming soon, I blogged quite a few links (Avatar wasn't one of them, because it's so far away from release still) not that long ago in a post called "Upcoming Thrills." Check it out when you get a chance. There's some really good stuff on the horizon.
One thing I can say watching the trailer at the movies a few weeks ago while watching District 9 or GI joe, I can't remember as my girl and I did double presentation thing, is that it looks extremely interesting. Just be sure you don't read any background or refer to the cartoon material that wa so popular. I made this mistake with bringmyself up to lore on some of the superhero movies like Transformers and the movies were not as good becuase of this. (The 2nd one had alot of action, and I do like lincoln park, but a song only has so much "power" to it, and playing it like 15 times during the movie diminishes it quite fast."
ReplyDeleteI gladly did not make this mistake when I watched G I Joe but did do some reading afterwards to see how other diehard fans took it.
One thing will always be certain, the movies will never end up like the books, and will never be as good. After all, can you snuggle up with your significant other and read a book together, like back in kindergarden, when the teacher read out loud? Its actually quite nice and my girl and I do it quite often, imitating the voices, or sometimes her reading the female parts and I reading the male parts, and occasionaly, I'll throw on a bed sheet like a cloak and act out the kingly or action parts with a ruler as my sword. Its silly, but fun, and the smiles I get from her are so worth it. I've never seen her smile during a movie like she smiles at me. Go Books!
WOW, my commenting at work after 16 hours is quite diminished. Overlook the grammatical errors. I shall have to begin proof reading again as I used too. Blah.
